My thoughts are with you! My son CJ, too, turns 21 on June 15th and is stationed in Kasul, Iraq. We haven't seen him since 2007 but gets to come home in a few weeks (supposedly) for a 2 week leave. I know exactly what you are going through.

I wish you and your son the best. Please tell him we thank him for the service of his country. God bless him!!

You are so right in how you say thing. There is no real victory in any war really. Like Master Sun from the Art of War quoted ' The best General is the one that can prevent the War'. Great blog.

ps: A second thought on Kalsu is not my friend. I am actually emailing with someone's son in the Iraqi city where mine is deployed. He has a blog and is "bookish". So, I will send him books and shift my perspective humanize the citizens my son could die to liberate. I'll let you know how it works out.

Hey there,
My heart beats in rhythm with yours and I wait to exhale with every report of "casualties" from Iraq. My "little darling" has opened my eyes and separated me from the masses. Until he won his "battle" with me and enlisted in Army Infantry, I enjoyed blindness to the GWT. Now, like you, I've been forced to evolve in pace with a grown son whose courage and vision surpasses my own.
I fully understand your crumps and bumps. We do the best we can and rally because there is NOTHING we won't achieve on our children's behalves. It's especially hard when my closest friends just cannot wrap their heads or hearts around not only the scope of my struggle, but more importantly, the peril we are ALL in as evil against humanity festers while we sleep.
Thanks for setting up your blog. Perhaps if there were one for "friends of neurotic military mothers" we'd be more effective in getting the word out. On second thought, if Mumbai and the Islamibad Marriot don't open eyes. . .

I would just like to say to all those that are defending our Country. We Love You very much and appreciate everything you do and continue to do.. I am getting ready to see what it is like to have a son and law leave for Iraq for a year. I am not handling it very well. His little girl was born while he was stationed away and he has got to be with her for the last year and is getting ready to leave for a year now away from her. This is really hard because she is just getting started knowing who he is and leaving again for a year. At the sametime we understand what he has to do. I just pray that "God" keeps his hand on him and everyone else over there serving our Country. Thanks for everything. I appreciate everything you guys do. God bless you all.

Got a buddy over there that I used to work with, He is around the area your son is. I call him on the phone periodically to see how he is doing. Any way I got some co workers to pitch in for a care package. I went down to Wally World, I got things like Jerkey, Trail Mix. water guns. Anyway it was about $200 worth of stuff. He cried. He also said he gave the water guns to the kids! Camp Liberty gets mail!

This brought tears to my eyes. It is wonderful to know that there are still people in this world who care and actively support our troops.

As for your son, the next time you have the pleasure of communicating with him, please tell him that I thank him for his service, and I very much appreciate that he has my back.
